With life's twists and turns we seem to lose ourselves along the way and that's okay, we are human. We screw up, we 'fail' according to society, and we may even sell our soul - however the great news is we do find ourselves again. For every knock down we will rise and for every loss there will be a gain and vice versa. Most importantly we learn to honour ourselves through this simple yet sometimes complex process.
In this vast phenomenal world we live in, the journey of life can be unclear to most of us and we find ourselves constantly reinventing ourselves through all our life experiences. Feeling lost time and time again, finding ourselves, feeling lost again. There is no script to follow, no recipe and no instructions - only what's been imbedded in us through our childhood conditioning, our environmental circumstances and those whom we continue to associate with in our influential circles.
In our society today, we are constantly bombarded with information even more so now with social media and the expectations are yay high for us, systems are outdated and no longer serve the human spirit it's a wonder why we are running around like headless chickens. In Viktor Frankl's 'Mans Search For Meaning' Frankl shares his experiences of his patients that in most cases they would feel useless if they were jobless, then the feeling of uselessness would amount to feeling life was then meaningless. This wisdom too can be applied to our travels throughout life, when we are going through challenges that we feel we cannot cope with we feel our life is meaningless and it may then lead to us comparing our lives to others taking us to a deeper abyss of unworthiness.
When life throws us curve balls we feel trapped, frozen unable to move and we feel helpless in our current circumstances. We feel we have exhausted all our avenues and have no control. In this state of mind you cannot help but feel deflated and feel the world is unfair however that's just it - it's just a state of mind and we choose our states of mind all the time. It's learning to detach from these ongoing noisey thoughts that continuously consume our being and most times these are vicious cycles.
Pause for a moment and breathe. Simply sit in the silence and be still. When we are awe struck by the mountains, valleys, oceans, buildings, architecture of Mother Nature it takes our breath away. The profoundness is the stillness and beingness and when we are privy to this, this profoundness and stillness is within us all.
Divine Order is at play and when this wisdom is explored further our world begins to shift and transform. When we see that nothing is missing, everything is in perfect order - our world opens up to a perspective that is more explorative and understanding expands infinitely. Practices of being still can be through prayer, song, meditation etc to bring your being present in the moment or simply just pausing to breathe and being aware of your breath as you inhale and exhale.
Through this wisdom of being still, being present as termed Mindfulness today, we learn to detach ourselves from situations that imprison our Soul.
In essence by pausing and being still we are honouring ourselves. By honouring ourselves, there is a greater depth of love for oneself, for others and we have gratitude for who we are and who we are becoming.
